Information
Description:

Daniel Shipp — has expertise on climate change and the City of Kingston — is available through ask-an-expert for the Climate Change in My Municipality, an Inquiry.

Mr Shipp is the Coordinator of Sustainability Initiatives for the City of Kingston. A key focus of his work is climate change impacts and the mitigation and adaptation measures required to address a changing climate; some of the City’s initiatives include:

  • programs to reduce impacts from severe and changing weather patterns like hotter and drier summers, higher intensity rainfall events, warmer winters, icing conditions, and new types of pests and diseases,

  • a Greenhouse Gas Emissions reduction program,

  • supporting the development of renewable energy,

  • and the Kingston Climate Action plan

In developing the Climate Action Plan, the City produced Climate Change and Kingston: The Changing Climate, Greenhouse Gases, Mitigation and Adaptation. This powerpoint examines trends in the climate, how this will impact the City and the adaptation and mitigation measures required.

If you would like to contact Daniel Shipp with your question or questions on climate change and the City of Kingston and area, prepare your questions and email them to info@greenlearning.ca
