Your current project(s):
I am highly involved in the Rutgers University branch of Grupo Liberdade de Capoeira dos Palmares as a capoeirista and as an officer; I also write short stories that I have yet to post and articles for my school newspaper and Iranian.com. I am also into traveling and learning languages and recently did a medical/social work internship in Salvador, Brasil.(Read Essay)

How do you participate?
If I see something that I am really all about, I find out how I can get it and just throw myself into it.

When did you start?
I started my volunteering in Brasil July 11th and finished August 8th.

Why is youth participation important?
Youth really are at the highest point of potential in terms of the good that can be accomplished because not only can young people put a lot of energy into projects and experiences, they also stand to get the most out of it through new and valuable experiences gained through their participation.

What can be done to promote more youth participation?
The youth should be made to think about what is really important to them. I think that more opportunities for independent research and personal study should be available in the K-12 school system.
