CONFERENCE AGENDA
Forum on Women's Activism in Constitutional and Democratic Reform

Forum Objective
Please join us, back in Room 200 of the West Block, when Members of Parliament and Senators from across party lines, will be in the same place on the same date as the 1981 "Ad Hoc" women's constitutional conference that was held on Valentine's Day 25 years ago - to welcome back many of the engaged Canadians who changed the course of Canadian constitutional history that day. This Forum on Women's Activism in Constitutional and Democratic Reform is being organized by original "Ad Hockers" from 25 years ago and the University of Victoria International Women's Rights Project, in partnership with a diverse range of volunteers including a national "ad hoc" youth committee, Equal Voice, Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario, TakingITGlobal, Power Camp National, FAFIA (Feminist Alliance for International Action), The Afghan Women's Organization, the Youth Action Network, - working together with the financial support of Status of Women Canada, the International Development and Research Council, CIDA, Justice Canada, the Law Commission of Canada and private donors. Activists, artists, academics, media, students, current and former parliamentarians, will join in celebratory retrospection of women's activism in Canadian constitution-building, to produce forward-looking strategies in a global context - linking diverse intergenerational perspectives on Canadian experiences, with those of activist women leaders engaged in building the constitutional democracies of Afghanistan, Rwanda and South Africa.
