aboutAbout
Self Esteem is a very important ingredient in nurturing Leadership for a good and smooth governance. As the name goes, Self Esteem, one upholding himself high, and himself are his Beliefs, Fate, Norms and Values he cherish and respect.
Therefore, Self Esteem is the way we assess and feel about ourselves. And it includes feelings about our appearances, abilities, behaviour, past experiences and our beliefs about the way others sees us. Furthermore, to say the confidence we have in our ability to think and to cope with the challenges of life we come across.
In addition, the value we place on ourselves, and this really determines our life situations which confronts us on daily basis which is the source of our personal happiness, for it establishes our accomplishments and defines the limits of our fulfillment's in life.
As aspiring leaders, we really need to Discover, Develop and Maintain this particular ingredient of Leadership in our various leadership offices, roles for this is one of the measuring yard for us and to say, other measuring yards and tools and qualities are based or generated from SELF ESTEEM. To say, a measuring yard for us:
1.to assess our appearance, abilities, behaviours, past experiences and our beliefs,

2.to assess our confidence in our ability to think about issues, problems, tough decisions making and steps and measures to cope with the challenges of life as young leaders in our perspective positions or roles.

3.to assess and determine our attitude towards our leadership and personal life situations which confronts us on daily basis respectively.

4.a measuring yard to our source of personal and leadership happiness. This helps us to establish our accomplishment and also defines the limits of our fulfilment in life.
Ever since i stepped into the shoes of leadership as a young person, i always thought, our potentials (which is god-given)has something to do with Self Esteem, but, i have come to realise that, it has nothing to do with it but rather to do with everything with our performances(which is the human factor) that determines our abilities (height in life) but our ATTITUDE.
Self Esteem (S. E) is really a very important and powerful ingredient the human race need. It is a basic human needs or commodity that makes an essentials contribution to our personal and leadership life process. It is indispensable to normal and healthy development. Lacking a positive and healthy S. E, our psychological personal and leadership growth is stunted. Positive S. E operates as providing resistance and strength. But when S. E. is Low, our resilience in the face of our personal and leadership life"s adversities are diminished, in this way, negatives tend to have more effect and power over us than positives.
In our modern world of Leadership, off late, often S.E is confused with Boasting, Bragging or Arrogance, but to say, such traits reflect a rather low, I mean LOW SELF ESTEEM (L.S. E ) .People with high, i mean, Well Developed Self Esteem,(W. D S. E ) are not driven to make themselves Superior to others. They do not seek to prove their values by measuring themselves against a comparative standard. Their joy is in being who they are, not in being better than somebody else. S.E is neither COMPETATIVE nor comparative.
I must emphasis it here that, S.E is acquired (nurture) and not given(nature). For it plays a vital and powerful role in the Key Choices and Decisions that shapes our PERSONAL and LEADERSHIP lives.
