  Poetry

(For the love of NewAge newspapers and the disgust of its recent managerial crisis)

This is a newspaper: edited by Steve Osuji
(He evinces great intelligence)
It has imprisoned the poet’s heart
With its ebullient journalistic/literary exhibitions.

With pure heart, with ‘pure’ truth,
With pure happiness, with pure chorus:
The wind says it knows about this;
With NewAge at hand, happiness prevails.

Do we say what again?
NewAge was like a domino! (Schoolteacher).

A reader sees no dis-ingenuity
With its news; it hates mediocre
In the vanguard of its Editors
And made sure a reader does not
Regret any money spent on a copy.

A lot of things had happened
And here yet the poet is.

Imagine, like Judas, because of
The ‘exchangeable paper’
Judases wanted to reap it dry?
A newspaper that has virtually
Won all the awards for journalism.

It struggles now to maintain Lagos/Abuja,
It struggles to rise up but no specified date;
Knowledge is as old as creation.

Time will stop when the world stops.
Just like in this heart,
Tears will stop to bubble
When NewAge again rejuvenates in Port Harcourt.
