Midnight Venice Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION

  Poetry

Strangers sail in a gaunt Gondola,
Leaning their fears in each others shoulders,
The cheerful stars quiver marking the border
For us to bloom reflected in azure gentle waters.

He stares overwhelmed at his watch,
That has stopped for the night.
The cozy bowers of Venice their dreams catch
Holding them perfect in realms of light.

She swings her hand in the water,
Like runway starts sliding the sky,
Moments of eternity, that born and briefly die,
Subsisting immutable in their romantic minds.

At Piazza San Marcos unconsciously they recline,
Feeding pigeons with their hearts.
They flush their grief in mosaic tears,
As if vaguely scolding their life
To live and live till they cease;
When they remember stranger will not be.
