What inspires you?

Until poverty, illiteracy, and a plethora of other ills are no more, young people will continue to grow into adulthood as they are: restricted, under-developed and without reaching their potentials. I get inspired when I see young people breaking through these myriads of problems as a result of their creativity and selfless sense of purpose to make headways.

Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.

In the developing countries of Africa, for instance Nigeria, where I live, young people regard volunteering to help as exclusive works of registered charities and voluntary organisations. They view volunteering as "something that adults or people with the extra cash" do. I have come to realise that volunteering in all its ramifications is a way of life, and it helps both the giver and the recipient. I have started an e-group known as "Willinghands Volunteers" with members from Nigeria, Czeck Republic, Philipines, USA, Ghana and more. We, the members of Willinghands, are working towards building a community of young people here in Nigeria and everywhere that will work towards promoting volunteering ideals in their respective local environments.

Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.

A good leader is a natural at knowing how to get everyone involved, bringing them to understand a vision and coordinating the group's collective creativity to achieve the common goal.

Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.

Joining TIG has opened a new vista in my quests. TIG offers a variety of youth compliant information and resource materials that will be useful towards realising my goals and the aims and objectives of Willinghands. TIG has now become an avenue for me as a young person, without regard to my origin, background or gender, to join other young people from around the globe and together “inspire, inform and involve” other youth. It’s also an avenue for me to air my own opinion on how to solve the myriad of problems facing young people globally. I will sure be here for a long... long... time!
