Here's a quick update on what was "Hot and Happening" at TakingITGlobal.org this week:
TIGStar: Atta UR Rehman Check out our #1 active member - Atta UR Rehman from Pakistan. Atta is a Mass Communications student; but in his free time he is enrolled in various volunteer projects concerning child labor, solid waste managements, poverty, and environment. So far Atta has posted 167 TIG blogs, 89 discussion threads, 26 Global Gallery submissions and 4 Panorama submissions! Keep up with Atta and find out your active status on your profile!
TIG Blog: Omar Khadr - Children's Rights Vs. The Rod What does civilization mean to non-Western developing countries and cultures? TIG member Javie from Uganda posed an interesting dilemma in his latest blog on children's rights based upon the Euro-centric model of civilization versus traditional methods used in the Baganda culture to discipline children. Should we preserve the culture and violate childrens' rights? Is there an alternative to the rod? Share what you think!
Up Close and Personal with TIG Staff Have you ever wondered who's behind TakingITGlobal? Now you can get a glimpse of the TIG staff. Check out the interviews with program coordinators and core staff. Get inspired by and involved in the programs they have been working on! Hopefully we'll see you at an event somewhere soon!
Events: Youth Expressions at AIDS 2008 The next International AIDS Conference is being held in Mexico City, Mexico on August 3-8 2008. The Mexico YouthForce has asked TakingITGlobal members to submit artwork on what HIV/AIDS means to you and your community. TIGer Olga Pavlova has contributed to the gallery. Check out her work and submit your own!
