Circle of Struggle — The Education Initiative (1st Prize Writing) Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by Katie Engelhart, age 16, The York School, Ontario, Jul 12, 2004
Education , Citizen Journalism   Opinions

I, for one, refuse to sit still. I refuse to take one more day of my privilege for granted. If 130 million children can’t go to school, then I vow I will take every precious day of my education and get all that I can from it. I also refuse to limit my education to the classroom. If I can travel the world, soak up knowledge from books, and do everything I

can to experience and assist struggle, I know I can use that experience to enlighten others. One person’s experience, one person’s story, can be that one flap of wings.
I will be that STORYTELLER.
