Culture   Opinions

In trying to celebrate Africa"s pre-colonial heritage, culture has been misinterpreted over the years to be traditionalism. Even advocacy for culture preservation has greatly promoted primitiveness. With these embedded in the concept of culture, there will always be barriers to the diffusion of developmental strategies capable of bringing out the uniqueness of african Culture. This is because culture is being made inflexible by this portrayal. In this increasing dynamic global economy, there is a need for africans reception of analytical and communicational skills capable of embellishing the positivity of culture dynamism without the contradictions of tradition.

salami adewale | Jan 26th, 2003
it is dis heartening to note that africans derive joy in inculcating european and american trdition in terms of dressing and the likes by neglecting our rich african dress sense and cultural values.

This is absolutely right!

Yes, We have been facing barriers in trying to showcase the uniqeness of our cultural values. The philosophy of Negritude by Senghor is amost dead now. This is presently caused by my African brothers, who take pride and joy in westernizing them selves. Its a pity, but we'll get there!
