POLITICAL DAMAGE Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by gabriel babatunde oluwakorede, Nigeria Sep 29, 2006
Peace & Conflict   Poetry

In the world of our own
our leaders fight for treasures
There is no thirst to serve
in their quest for the sceptre
Political thugs everywhere
as they lay ambush
to commit political killings
And like a game of death
politics is played
For the blood of Funsho Williams cries,
and in the mind of the people of Ekiti land
the memory of Daramola's assassination
will forever live
How do we mend our political walls,
who will portray democracy
in its real nature?
I present this as a suit
before the good people of Nigeria
as I rest my pen
and hope for a new dawn.

Writer Profile
gabriel babatunde oluwakorede

I am a young man whose dream is to reform the world through poetry. I was nominated as "Poet of the year" for 2003 by Maryland-based International Society of Poets. Though I was unable to attend the convention for a reason, I still find joy in my achievement.

I do not have an organization of my own, but I plan to have one soon. I am looking forward to joining so many governmental organizations, and meeting poets of like minds. I believe so much in poetry, and it has been my platform for everyday activity.

From one aspiring poet to another, thumbs up. I relate to your expressions.
