What is this country, whose visual depiction does resemble my beloved country?
Alas my Lord, what picture is this?
Of a country no longer doomed to death by the dilemma of debt?
A country no longer side-stepped and meandered by Development Aid and Foreign Direct Investment,
A nation walking but in tandem, hand in glove with Information, Communication and Technological advancement for development?
It is indeed the vision of my beloved developing country,
And I know it can, it shall, and it will come to pass.
It can, it shall and it will come to pass, if my beloved can but perpetuate pro-poor economic growth and stability,
Intermarrying public-private and civil society partnerships in development,
Without end continually engaging the international community to discourse and dialogue around development,
And to consolidate gains from trade and exchange protocols,
Indeed this, my vision, surely can, shall and will come to pass.
With my fellow poor hungering and thirsting for equitable socio-economic development,
There is indeed no room for personal aggrandisement,
Sound corporate governance can only but work to my beloved’s favour, building in itself confidence, character and credibility,
I say no, no and never, to greedy and garrulous gourmands,
Whose bottomless bellies expand at the expense of the populace like a protrusion of pregnancy,
Mine silence I shall not keep any longer,
Until unsustainable debt and dishonest scales find eternal resting place behind the back of beyond, for they are indeed an abomination.
Oh yes, it can, it shall and will be done,
That my beloved can but also become relevant and compliant to this fast globalising world order,
If she could but realise, that it takes but more than one to tango,
And that one finger alone cannot but squash a louse,
Then would she extend hands and join the rest in this global partnership for development,
And indeed my vision can, shall and will come to pass.
