Like a grown up am walking miles for water on a dirt track
Am a shoeless little girl with a baby sister on my back

I found my sandals in a trash at last years full moon
Am a poor little girl that will wear the same ones in June

My hands are hard and dry like that of a overworked slave
Am a tired little girl that has no choice but to stay brave

My hair is a mess from my restless lifestyle without a pay
Am the exploited little girl that does more than many in a day

Adolescence is a stage of life that I will never know of
Am the premature little girl who jumped all the above

When I discovered life, I discovered the way of the poor
A pain like no other, isn’t enough description for what I endure

But am just a little girl, growing in the slums without pearl
