MDG Contest: The Breakable piece Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by Philips Bassey, Nigeria Apr 22, 2005
Peace & Conflict   Opinions

The breakable piece was created as a whole beautiful object. But over the years, the object has gone through a lot of hardtimes, and these have resulted in cracks inside this beautiful object and even some parts breaking off.

There is something unique about this object; it has the ability to destroy and rebuild itself. This object wishes to rebuild itself and this is supposed to be an easy task, but it seems really difficult for this object to achieve it's goal. All the object has to do is to get a substance that can bind its cracks and broken pieces together to become a whole beautiful object again. The good news is; this substance is all around the object, the bad news is; the object can't get hold of this substance.

"Why not?", you may ask. This is a question that lingers on...

In summary, we are the breakable piece, the cracks and the broken parts in us are due to poverty, war, hatred, corruption, discrimination, stigmatization e.t.c. The substance we need to rebuild ourselves is LOVE.

My brothers and sisters, what I can do to help achieve the Millenium Development Goals is to advice everyboby in this beautiful world of our's that LOVE for one another is the only way to achieve the MDGs.
