I am but still in great contempt belayed
To watch the spring and dread the passing days
But though my eyes retain the shock of hate
I listen for the telling of their ways
I smile a smile and wink the wretched winks
He watches and retains the mark of death
I smile a smile and taint what he may think
He watches and retains the mark of death
I weed through barren thoughts and cut the full
No voice, no heart, no mind, no chance to breathe
I weed through barren thoughts and cut the full
Until he strings the wooden souls to feed
The day will come more quickly than he dreams
When eyes wide open close and ape The Hare
The sunlight takes the withered shape of man
Thorns and blood-reddened hands do give
I smile a smile and bow a simple stoop
To rid and rub away the stench of fools.
