Because She is a Mother... Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by Becky Lorraine, Australia Feb 12, 2005
Poverty   Poetry

She sells her soul,
down on that street.
She continues to do this
because her child has to eat.

They use her up,
then spit her out.
She continues to do this
without any doubt.

Who can blame a woman,
some believe disgaces god above.
She continues to do this
for the child that she loves.

She would sell her soul
for no other.
But she continues to do this
because she is a mother.

Becky Lorraine

Writing has always been my escape and ever since i can remember I have been coming up with ideas for songs, poems and stories. I remember in primary school my topics were not always the fiction the teachers expected I would write about Countries like Japan, Kenya, France and Italy and serious issues like the Ash Wednesday bushfires & the Titanic events that happend before i was even born. I still continue to do this to educate myself and people who read my work to make the world aware.

This is a very good poem. There should be more help for mothers so that no woman had to sell her body.
