A certain pain grips me,
The weight of loneliness unbearable.
Far, far away from my friends and family.

I think of the rains, sunshine,
I remember the planting and the harvesting,
The trees, the green grass, the abundant fruits, the running streams…

I thirst for the rain water,
I thirst for the fruits,
I starve of the smiling faces,
I starve of home food.

Here in this land dry and humid,
Here where food is a luxury,
Here where friends are scarce,
I long for home- Distant home!
