Dear Providence,
I’m writing just to say how much you’ve meant to me.
From as far back as I remember, you’ve taught me how to live,
How to walk and how to talk and even how to look.
I have been your student for oh so many years and even when I looked
Away, your lessons I still learnt.
Providence you’ve changed my life in more ways than I can imagine
Just like that day I took a fall from the tall Guava tree. I remember what
You said that day even though I cried in pain, “Agony lasts only for a page
In life’s story book.”
Providence you lifted me and took me in your arms even when I lost all that care for me. An orphan at such a young age, you taught me to live on. You taught me to be strong and free and thus, I learnt the trade.
Now many didn’t believe in me, and this I did expect so you helped as I paved my way through school and on top of my class I stayed. But life didn’t change right there, on and on it went. Till I woke up that bright morning on my graduation day.
Families and friends were there to see their own. No one but you was there for me, this I still remember cause that day you stood by me as I read the valedictorian speech. I still remember the look on some of their faces and the words they seemed to say even though they weren’t speaking. “Is that not the Orphan child that lived right down the street…?” Little did they know that you were there with me.
I thank you providence for my beautiful wife and kids, now I know I can share the love that you’ve always given me. I thank you everyday, for the gifts and skills you gave now I can teach my kids the lessons you taught me.
My son walked down the aisle as he took on a new life and even that day I remember you sat in the back.
Yesterday they had a daughter, she reminded me so much of my wife and when I began to feel lonely, I felt your hands on my shoulder.
So finally I conclude this letter as I take my walk down the aisle once again, to celebrate my life lived to its fullest.
I have come this far just to let you know how much you mean to me. I know that as I sleep this day…
Providence you still stand by me.
Thank you Providence.

I'm 26 years old.
And this is my creed.
My voice is a tool in destiny's toolbox.
My words are the ammo of providence's slingshot.
My thoughts are the paths in fate's journey,
My intentions projections of success divine.
I write because I choose to speak
of the things the cause the world to spin.
I write because I can
and i believe my words will someday make an impact.
I'm not an agent of change as some many conclude or think.
I'm just the wind that blows and spreads the forest fire.
Join me and together we can walk to destiny's dream.
Love to all
I'm not a poet
I'm just me

One person can change a life Barbara Dykes | Nov 24th, 2004
We forget about all the "Providence" people out there. They ARE making a difference. I adopted my brother's son at 14 mo old due to his involvement with drugs and alcohol. Now he is 32 and married with a beautiful 5 mo old daughter. We can all do something that is within our own means. NEVER underestimate the ripples from that deed. I see them flow out from my adopted son to his wife, his daughter and on down the line. In this terrible, violent world, let us remember the good and smile and recruit others to help.
