A story was once told, of a man who thought, a man who had a dream
He dreamed of making carts with wheels, of making boats of steam
The man had dreams of connecting the world with miles and miles of wire
Oh yes, he dreamed of creating the phone, until he was struck by fire

For every morning, as he started to wake a fire would erupt within his mind
And devour his dreams, oh precious dreams, ideas that no one would ever find
Bewildered and hurt he would gather the ash and try to rebuild his work
In futile efforts he would rattle his mind, the man would go berserk

Alas by mid-day he would reach his peak and faintly have his dream
But though altered, these works would be more clear than they had ever been
Up from the ashes ideas would grow that far surpassed his night-time schemes
The more the fires burned his dreams the better the ideas would seem

He learned to embrace his dreams and embrace the flames even more
He learned that mere dreams were like a piece of steak served raw
Those fires inspired and drove the man, his ideas soon grew to fame
When the furnace kissed, he would kiss it back, the man would kiss the flame

That man created many things, he discovered the treasures in his mind
And there they lie so intact today, for everyone who seeks to find
He lives inside us all as men and with him a fire that’s calm and tame
But fan it, feed it, let it grow and you as well will be kissed by a flame
