My name is Alina. I’m 15 years old. I want to tell you about my native country.
Russia. How much we can tell about this country! About people, culture, traditions, nature and how many mysteries we will solve in the future!
Everyone knows or maybe hears about Russia, because of its large territory. Russia - it is wonderful forests, flat hills, quite rivers of the Great Russian Plain and the Urals mountains, which have been ruining by the ages. Taiga territories of the Westen and Easten Siberia, on which there are a lot of powerful rivers and thick taiga forests. In the northern part, along the Arctic Ocean, tundra is stretching, in the south there are chernozem steppes of the Don and Cuban, the nature of the Casрian Sea and mountain ranges of the Caucasian mountains.
The history of our country can show us that our ancestors often felt difficulties. But their life continued, the years of grief and disasters were changed for the best. Our people are persistent, good-natured, very benevolent and kind, hard working, but at the same time trusting. Our country passed through a lot of wars, which took away many human lies. Our country can be proud of its people. We have a lot of scientists, poets and writers, artists and philosophers and many others. All our people are sociable and hospitable. Most of the population is the Russians, but it is also inhabited by the Ukrainians, Byelorussians, Jews, Tatars, Georgians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis and many other nationalities.
Our wonderful people created an astonishing culture and amazing traditions. The country is remarkable for the number of holidays. The Day of Sovereignty of the Russian Federation, Victory Day, May Day, Women's Day are among the dates which are the most memorable to every Russian citizen. The Great Patriotic War left a sad recollection in the hearts of our people. On this day we honor the memory of heroes and all people, who perished in that war.
In Russia every persons paid much attention to education, sport, and culture. We have a great number of theatres, museums, galleries, and reservations. We have places, which are not touched by the human hand.
Now we all live in a difficult time. Recently, our country went through terrible tragedy. But people will be firm and strong. We often say that Russia is not the same powerful country, which it was some centuries ago. But in spite of this we are proud of it, love and hope that Russia is worthy for the successful future and we will do our best to realize it.
