What do I want to tell the world about Russia?

God, I just can’t find the right words to express how proud I am of being a citizen of this wonderful country of ours! I can tell you a lot about my beautiful Russia, but the main thing is it’s my Motherland. That’s the place where my parents were born! I’m very excited to tell you what I’m assured is important for the others to learn about Russia.

Last year I went to America and stayed with an American family for a while there. I made some friends in the US and the sad thing was they knew nothing about the country where I come from! They associated Russia with communism and thought we still have the same regime as we used to have a couple years ago. I was so irritated by that! I told them that communism had fallen and the USSR was destroyed.

I’m really concerned about what people think of Russia. I want everyone to know that Russia is the country of brave, strong, open-minded, hardworking people. We are always glad to host guests who bring kindness, peace to our houses and who trust us… There were some ‘guests’ who entered our territory to conquer it, to raze our state from the face of the Earth, to take away our treasures, and to take control over Russians. But people fought till the end. My grandfather participated in World War 2. He had three wounds and got about 20 awards for his bravery. When I was a little baby girl and he was still alive he told me a story about his friend who bled to death, but never gave up the tank which he was responsible for. And there are a whole lot of the stories like that. Many thousands of bold men, women and children were injured, tortured and killed while fighting to rid our land of an evil. On the 9th of May they celebrated a long awaited victory.

Let’s talk about something else. Have you ever heard the expression, “The folk songs represent the soul of the nation?” Have you ever heard Russian folk songs? They are very melodious, emotional, touchy and tender! It seems like a heart sings them, not a person.

Also I wanted to share my opinion about terrorism that is now spread worldwide. You all must know about the fearful tragedy in Beslan that took place a couple weeks ago. It makes me so mad when I think of it! How could those people kill so many kids? Oh, they aren’t people, they are beasts! In my mind, we should do something about terrorist attacks. The Government has to really put some effort in to finding a solution for this problem. And we, the people of the new generation, must put energy in it too!

Finishing, I wanted to say that I would like all people to unite in the struggle for the happy being of all countries!
