The Cost of Love Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION

This love, what is thine worth?

I’d happily pay in cash,

Just to be loved right for once,

But on a variable you are purchased.

Human factor, individual factor.

More than man to know,

What haven’t I done?

How many times I’ve prayed,

Is like this love has no cost?

Or real love can’t be earned.

Only your love can love you right,

O eternal justice, which way out?

Where is love without prodding’s?

Without heartaches and regrets,

Is great to be wanted.

I come alive when I write and the feeling that those few lines may impact positively on a soul unknown to me or even elicit a smile makes it a worthwhile endeavour.
