NIGHT OF MY SOCIETY
The night is waiting by the door
With his snapping eye balls wide open
The closing bell is rung by the anxious- looking gateman
Every worker's out for another night's rest
The market women close up their stall with their "okun-owo"
Full of shillings fit firmly to their waists
The business men return to their gentle rest- houses
The house wives, the children waiting by the gates
For daddies' bags and cookies
Here they return with their stomachs churning for food
And dinner is over !
Glued to the TV is every family watching "Super stories"
But the light is interrupted
Everyone is out with mat or wrapper
For a polluting fresh air
The power is back, but you hear "all voices"
......."Up NEPA!"-A complimentary to the source
All back to the screen-it's news at ten-
All,disaster,depravity,delinquency,depression,devastation
Of the society
No good news story for the polity, even if there is one
It is politics personified.
In anguish,complain and bitterness
Every family goes to bed
And most ,woken up by nightmares
Their morning prayer-"God save me from goes-slow today."
What a night of my society!

« return.
