what is religion
but a fancy name
a way to say
we all believe
something different
some believe in many gods
others in one god
some believe in a life after this
others in reincarnation
others still in nothing
but some things are the same
religion is the word
for when
we gather together
as humans
our voices raised
in unison
chanting, singing
our mouths eating
the same food
that tastes like resistance
of sin
of bad deeds
of indulging in things we shouldn't
with the sweet aftertaste
of knowing it's good for you
unlike Tantalus
we resist the grapes above us
we ignore the water
around us
and we end up with more
religion is filled
with people
people together
people believing
religion
is the sound
of our souls singing
as one
