That boy, sitting by the roadside waiting for a passerby to drop a coin or two in his plate in order to feed
Needs a helping hand

That girl dumped by a heap of refuse by her teenage mother, in the cold of the night with no hope for a better future
Needs a helping hand

That youngster who was forced take up arms as a form of self-defense due to the civil unrest in his country
Needs a helping hand

That lady forced to leave a decent accommodation in her home country due to a civil war that nearly claimed her life, only to be housed in a mosquito infested tent in a refugee camp in a seemingly strange land
Needs a helping hand

That lad who just finished high school with the hope of studying for a professional course and has no funds to achieve his dreams
Needs a helping hand

That woman, who just lost her husband to the cold hands of death and has to work round the clock combining childbearing and up bringing at the home front with several economic activities, striving to make ends meet, nearly crushing under the heavy weight
Needs a helping hand

That baby lying critically ill, perhaps with a terminal disease, in the intensive care unit of a general hospital
Needs a helping hand

Have you taken time to observe the many people around you, who need a helping hand? Will you extend your hand of benevolence to the needy? Will you be that helping hand?
Will you pull that person out of his low estate to a more dignified status?
Your act may go unnoticed but you would have succeeded in writing your name in the sands of time, and in the hearts of those you touched.

Writer Profile
'Yemisi

Hello there! I'm Yemisi, a Nigerian female with a passion for developmental initiatives.

I love writing because it's a way of adding value to other people's lives, i.e. sharing. We all are who we are today just because sometime in our lives we had opportunities to read what someone else had written.

I like advocating for the voiceless, especially the less-privileged ones. I love programs that focus on children, teens, youths and women. I also believe that we all can live lives worthy of emulation (by generations yet unborn) if we contribute positively - by putting in our best in whatever we are involved in.

My first degree is in Economics and I also have a Masters in Humanitarian & Refugee Studies. I'm currently in University of Jyväskylä, Finland studying for a Masters in Development and International Cooperation.

I'm interested in issues relating to children, youth and women empowerment, especially in developing countries like Nigeria.

I have authored 3 books titled - "Child Development: Whose Role", "Let's Help Nigeria", and "Charisma and Character".

I am a facilitator, trainer, business advisor/consultant and a motivational speaker. My goal is to contribute to socio-political and economic development through skills transfer, knowledge sharing, networking and policy advocacy.

Thanks to TIG for giving me a unique platform to share with and meet new friends!
