Human Rights , Peace & Conflict   Short Stories

I tried to imagine what must have been going through her mind while she was being lynched. I had so many questions; did she try to protect her unborn child? Did she beg for mercy? What was her life story? Would I have done something to protect her and the unborn baby? I figured that for some reason, she could not make it to the Hospital Road Mosque or the Police Barrack where policemen have been stationed by the authorities to protect the Hausas from the mob. Our brothers in the North were not innocent, they were doing exactly the same thing- killing and burning non-indigenes, pregnant or not. I often think back to that event and ask myself what I can do to help ensure that such evil act does not happen again. I am yet to find an adequate answer to this question. I will end by quoting Samuel Johnson “An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.”

My name is Eucharia Nina Chika Igwe; I'm a citizen of the world. I love to write, among many other things.

I currently reside in the USA and would one day like to be a Minister for Health. Health and Wellness-related issues are my passion. I strongly believe that a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.

High self-esteem is one of the things that has sustained me. Love starts with oneself and then flows out to the rest of one's environment.

I am a spirit-filled individual determined to make a whole lot of difference in this generation and in generations to come.

I do ask one thing of you: Always give your honest opinion about my writings. It is truly appreciated. Make each day a memorable one. Ndewo!!!
