Born in Iran, Nepalese by citizenship and pursuing higher studies in India!! Welcome to the intersection filled life of the intersected me!! Well life has always brought me to intersections and now I truly understand the meaning of intersection. Do you want some help? Here it is.
Whenever I hear some Urdu word, it becomes very easy to decipher it, I just use my knowledge of Persian and Hindi together and BINGO!! I know Urdu and understand almost all the regular phrases!! So is this intersection not enough that you want more? Well the most ironical intersection comes when you go from Iran to India!! Both the places are just 3 hours away from each other (courtesy: Mahan Air Flights) but differences galore! In Tehran when I woke up every morning and looked out of the window, the snow clad mountains would smile back at me wishing me Good-Morning. In India, well it is the noise and the sun who wish me a very Good Morning every day. But down the line, I find the people to be same. I know that in Iran ladies follow Hijab and in India it is not compulsory but down the line both nations belonging to the same region show many similarities. The similarities in lingual front are due to Sanskrit being the mother of all languages (I see the proof in day to day speaking) and the deep cultural relations which have been interwoven deep down since centuries.
Sometimes these intersections leave me no-where and make me virtually blind. I sometimes wonder where I belong. Studied in Indian School and now am in India, Born in Iran with Fluent Persian and then Being a Nepalese! Now I know what identity crisis is. I know India better than Nepal. I can connect with Iranian culture and way of living better than any other culture. So how is this intersection? A intersection worth thinking!!
