Your feet were still far away,
When I heard you were coming this way.

They said you’re black from Togo
But, never said you knew how to tango.

Why should one wish only to be able
When it’s possible to be fully capable.

I was happy.
Yes, the knowledge of another made me happy.

Who have drank from the African breast
And preciously treasures the African chest.

I pictured a face in my mind;
Black, African, with a humble head.

Like the morning crow of the cock,
You arrived at dawn with a knock.

Here, I noticed something much more graceful.
Oh, you’re! You’re black, black and so elegantly beautiful!

So beautiful! Twisted braids climbing down your shoulders
Like the beauty of Obudu waterfalls.

Suddenly, I’m short of words
Plus something inside of me blows.

Hey! Who’s thripping?
I’m only but busy appreciating.

A beauty from Africa,
So ravishing like a diamond-like star.
