They came with a smile at morn
And beamed as sunrays at dawn
They brightened our shores with their masts
And sang sweet melodies of love

At noon' turn their smiles snarls
And their dazzling light blind dark
Then their beautiful masts were tainted
With the blood and sweat of our own

At dusk, and all the smiles were gone
Gone were the sweet melodies of love
The Christly brotherliness and oneness
Pain and ruin had taken their place

At night we watched them carry away our sons
On great machines across the waters
To lands afar where I hear the sun sets not
And white demons of cold the bones wreak

I hear the toils and sweat of our own
Built the rails and roads of the white god
And their coarse and rough palms
Nurtured the plantations and mines

I hear the early morning greetings
Were the sounds of canes and chains?
That cracked their bare and tender backs
And bruised their ankles and wrists

I hear the priestly voice of the white god
Now utters curse, commands and orders
And I hear the dignity of our own
Were replaced by shame, scorn and scar

In the darkest hour of the night just before another dawn
I hear our brethren no longer their names bear
That they seem to have forgotten their past
And know not whither, whence or hence
That they seem to be forever lost
In the land of the white God, far away across many waters

A new dawn is here
Our sons are coming back to the land
From far away across many waters they come
They come with psalms of triumph
They come to join their own

 Solace...
This poem is all about slavery. remembeing or thinking of slavery saddens my heart.
Unfortunately modernised slavery still exist. Though the victims no longer go about in chains and padlock...but the help develop the white lands, living africa less developed.
Something must be done. Africa needs the brain and not be drained!

Modernised slavery still exist and unfortunately we are willing allies to it. Beyond the brain drain is the destructive mentality of seeing everything white good and everything black bad. We must rise above that and see some good in ourselves. Only then can we love being africans and stay to develop Africa
