Youth, as they say, is a stage of prolific processes. It is the time of idealistic expediency wherein different experiences might happen to everyone. But none of these so-called expediencies is bestowed. Only because the fact that, those advantages of youth are withdrawn by deviant factors present in his/her surroundings due to peer influences, curiosity, and own desires which continuously pull youth out of the better way to live a meaningful life. Hence, this isn’t the problem; still, there are ways to show how deep and how challenging it is to stand against temptation and wrong doings. Hard enough to think, but it is possible by turn back time and looking back.
Today, people seldom use the word “free” because often times we are too busy with our daily work. This also includes us youth. Education is a major reason for why youth today feel pressured. However, this component acts as a diversion to stay away from those misleading things.

In this country, the government and different youth organizations help out-of-school youth and street children to be educated and be better and responsible citizens of the world. They are trying to promote the goodness and effectiveness of culminating one’s capability to prove that drug addiction, prostitution, and other vices like smoking, drinking liquors, and some mischievous dispositions in life, are nothing compared to those mentioned. Furthermore, The Filipino youths who chose to continue that kind of living can be classified in many ways as: insane or dead; AIDS victim or sexually abused; cured or dying with cancer; or jailed permanently. This is just the overall scenario of our youth in our country.

As a Filipino youth, I am aware with what is happening around me. I observe teenagers who are really in to popular fads and socially accepted trends. Some are into those “mischievous dispositions”, however, some as I’ve related, are continuing their ways of being resilient and capable of turning back time and looking back as the nature revolves in our faith and belief. This means not all youth allot inadequate time for responding to the real role we hold; the real responsibility we need to conquer; and the real conquest we need to battle. To lead a life amidst of temptation.

I am a Christian, a Catholic. And in our teachings we need to obey and base our lives in the commandments our Lord has given us. Therefore, it is to subdue temptations and win over it in order to be strict of what is written in the Bible and to follow God’s will. However, it is also our duty to help other people to recall their faults and establish once again their faith. And one of the possible ways is to be active in your church. It can be considered as a rudiment compared to those holding various events about sports or the arts in order to put way the youth from those worldly dangers. Besides, this can change the fact that people call to their religion if they need something.

In our subdivision, we have this organization called “Youth for Christ”. Last summer I had to attend the camp in order for me to become one of them. I was hesitant in becoming a serious and active member of the said organization, but in His ways I felt His true presence. I was able to revive my spiritual life and on the other hand I learned to accept things which were unlikely to me. This experience gave me the idea that all of us can change for the better; even those who are egocentric and so modernized youth. I saw those rambunctious teens, who, on their own ways changed even just for a minute to be quiet and worthy of accepting their faults.

Moreover, we have been blessed to develop our talents and skills. Since one of the main goals of our organization is to be active in different activities that may take time purposely. We had a benefit concert for the construction of our parish. We might also organized events in sports for the youth whose interests are inclined in this field.
Now to think, not only the youth in our organization can be models, each one of us can be. If we know in our hearts that we need to change the trend in our generation to be fervent to our nation, to our religion, and to ourselves – it is time to pave ways for others to join you in your aim for a change. Because like us, you and others would no longer fall victim to the pressure that we try to deal with.

I know that this composition will not give you the idea you are thinking of, but try to visualize that through this writing, it is not yet too late to become a better person. Remember that, youth should be spent wisely because this connects us to our maturity. And it is essential for us to be good, upright, and disciplined citizens of our nation, and not afraid of leading a life amidst of temptations.
This thing only starts in you and ends in your understanding. Be the youth of what we are expected to be.
