I am a child; I am the things of the past.
I am all I see
Dad always working hard
Mum, organising everything in sight
My brothers; just being kids
I am all I hear
Traffic echoing past
The air con and computers both humming in unison
Skateboards and bikes all rocketing past
I am all I taste
Beautiful mango soothing my mouth
Cold and creamy, ice cream and jelly
Horrible crunchy capsicum, spitting it out
I am all I feel
My mother’s warm and tender hands.
The comfortable grip of the aircraft’s seat
Sleepiness that just won’t happen
And all I remember
My plane soaring up high into the sky
All the miniature people down below
Every night, Dad coming in and kissing me goodnight
(by law)
I am all I imagine
Flying cars
A perfect world
Heaven, with God
I am all I have learnt
Maths
How to walk and talk
Do your best and let God do the rest
I am all that I think
How do we work?
Why do they do it when it goes against
everything good they’ve been taught?
I am like
The bird that flies away in autumn
And comes back with new understanding and wisdom
This is because…
I am the man of the future
