Setback is inherent in human existence. It is only a delay - not a defeat. If you are knocked down seven times, get up eight times; and each time you are getting up, make sure you pick up something. Failure is one of the surest stepping stones to success. If you're not failing, you're not growing - so don't be weighed down by setbacks. Setbacks, give you an opportunity to know what doesn't work; and to try a new approach. We all are fallible - especially those who act.
Joel Budd remarked: "it isn't the final say so, unless you say so". Nobody and nothing can keep you down unless you decide not to rise again. Margaret Thatcher in her in-depth understanding of the principle of persistence quipped:"you may have to fight a battle more than once to win it". Never grow hopeless about your situations. In fact, you need to pray like Admiral Chester Nimitz :" God, grant me the courage not to give up what I think is right even though I think it is hopeless". Giving up is the ultimate tragedy. You can either stand up and be counted, or lie down and be counted out.
No wonder, Archie Moore, the famous boxer, reflected:"if I don't get off the mat, I'll lose the fight". Defeat never comes to people until they admit it. The man who fights and runs away, will live to fight again. So, don't be the one to quit, as quitters never win. Develop the will and courage to live on.
Your season of setback is the best time for sowing your seeds of success. "No matter what mistakes you have made - no matter how you have messed things up - you can still make a new beginning. The person who realizes this suffers less from the shock and pain of failure and sooner gets off to a new beginning". - Norman Vincent Peale.
Furthermore, don't let regrets replace your dreams. When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did. Yesterday ended last night. So today is more valuable to look ahead and prepare than to look back and regret. " A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams". - John Barrymore.
Consider the words of Vivian Laramore Rader :"I've shut the door on yesterday and thrown the key away - tomorrow holds no fears for me, since I've found today". Use the past as a launching pad, not a lawn chair. Your past is not your potential. Never build your future around your past. The past is over. Never let yesterday use up too much of today. Don't view your future from the perspective of yesterday .Edmund Burke said:" the past should be a springboard, not a hammock.
You can never plan the future by looking at the past. Don't let your past mistakes become memorials. They should be cremated, not embalmed. Your future contains more happiness than any past you can remember. The more you look backward, the less you see what's ahead for you. No one has ever backed into prosperity. You can't have a better tomorrow if you are thinking about yesterday. Yesterday has passed forever and is beyond your control. What lies behind is insignificant compared to what lies ahead.
These ingredients are right inside you, if only you allow for them to sprout out. Just develop the passion for positive changes in your life - and all these will guide your life.

Writer Profile
Visionary Sam
I'm a social engineer with a bold vision. I'm keen about generating and projecting ideas, because every great achievement sprouts from an idea. I'm a young poet and writer of African extraction. I'm an active volunteer and a leader of a youth organization. Currently, my team and I are working on the environment in absolute fulfillment of our passions, and in partial fulfillment of our British Council and Youngstars Foundation Top12 project. I'm very much concerned about the sorry state of the planet Earth. I like taking part in leadership discussions and in the political process, especially, as they affect the youth. I strongly believe in human resource empowerment and development.
