Pain brings out the brave
Pride enslaves
Save your name
You’re not to blame
You’ve lived your life
The charmed ride
Hide not the tears
Now, is there fear?
When death stares
at your beautiful face
Will you last the race?

Bad as far as the Furies go
Good as in angels all aglow
Caught in Yin and Yang’s crossfire
Will this changing being ever tire?
Janus-faced by necessity
Choices call this life for me
Tides of time in uncertainty
Keep my tenets of duplicity!

Distraught mind, senses in despair
Bearing the soul’s wars, solitaire
Fears, gloom, reside in my abode
Lost in limbo–life’s unsure road
Essence scarred by faults not a few
From excess freedom, suffer, do!
My tears, sacrifice, face insult...
Failed faith–to the self an assault!
Parched for You, with You, I’ll endure
When past vestiges scorch and lure
Longing for what life had been
Rebuilding, redeeming, in time I’ll win....
