INDONESIA LONG-LIFE: AGUSTUS 17, 2007
A plus-minus Reflection
By: Hayadin

Alhamdulillah (praying), I want to say Thank so much to God The Almighty that has given opportunity, power and perserverence to those Indonesians struggling for freedom and better life. And also, to the Founding fathers of Indonesia Republic Unity State who have sacrificed their life and time for their grandchild’s better life. This month August is a meaningful moment for Indonesia. In this moment, precisely on August 17, was the Indonesian Independence Day, where sixty two years ago precisely on August 17, 1945 have proclaimed by Sukarno and Hatta on behalf of Indonesian people.
A worthy thing to do nowadays is to gauge how have We (Young Generations) maintained and preserved this state. And more then that, how much have We sustained the intention of the founding fathers to reach social welfare and prosperity. Even, the founding fathers intentionally stated that We as the member of the population of the world have to take participation in the process of the making of the worldwide prosperity.

Try to think, how if the founding fathers come over and ask us, “What have You Done?” Okay, let us each give answers ourselves. What today exists in Indonesia was the resulting of accumulation jobs of much components in this country. And let me reflect any positive and negative performances of our nation:

1. Politics. Indonesia has got much progress in democracy, and human rights. The indicators for the democracy progress are: freedom of press and media to criticize and spread the relevant information needed by people, multiple and various politic parties established according to the various interests of Indonesian people and who follow the general election, civil-society that is spread over the archipelago, general election that is conducted straight, open, and fair. Factually, all of us could have seen the process of Local Government for Governmental election in Indonesia Capital Jakarta has been going fair and well.

2. Economics: unlike as politics, in economics it is a sorrow. There is still much unemployment and much poverty, and so on.

3. Social: the social-condition is the worse and crucial too. Any indicators could be mentioned, namely: illiteracy, street-boys, refugees of natural calamities, environmental disasters, school that fails to make bridge of better future to young generation, drugs, lack of opportunity for woman to go to school, etc.

4. Cultural: in the perspective of Cultural, Indonesia still maintain its various and unique natural and habits. There are many differences between urban and remote area cultures to the metropolitan that grow in any big cities. And also, many differences between regions.

In this moment let’s say long-life to Indonesia!!!
