As soon as we reached Seoul, there was a magnificent reception at the airport and we were escorted to Sheraton Grande, which was an hour away from the airport. The flurry started as soon as we reached, as the contingents from other countries had already reached a day earlier. There were 15 participating nations and another 10 were also showcasing their systems of education and their developmental stage of integration of IT into education. So in all there were 25 nations.

We had to put up the posters of our lesson plans to portray the way we were integrating ICT into education. The poster that I presented was a part of the research that I had done for the Educational Technology Paper during my Masters in Education. It was a teacher training module. I depicted the various ways by which a teacher can create different lesson plans for the same class and by using the computer interface, deliver at the same time. These lessons are developed keeping in view the individual differences and different perception levels of children.

The presentation was received very well and I had queries from a lot of interested teachers. I am maintaining a follow-up procedure for the same. And some of the suggestions are pretty interesting.

During the conference, we received incredible exposure and the connections that we made with like minded people were amazing. I have already connected with teachers from Australia, Thailand, Taiwan and Singapore and the emails have started zipping!!!! The Microsoft team took extra heed to make sure that we all were in a state of constant bustle- imbibing, sharing, collaborating, pooling resources from all inlets and sponging all that was available to take in.

Another highlight of my visit was that I was chosen to Showcase India for the Indian Delegation. I am perhaps a little emotional as far as my country is concerned, for when I spoke about my country at this international forum, I had so much passion in my voice that it was talked about later and complimented upon. The people from the American delegation made a special mention of it to our Microsoft Managers.

After the conference, I have gained insights tremendously and have grown as a teacher. After this amazing exposure, I have gained a much focused outlook and will continue to work towards the integration of IT in Education. I realised very early in my profession that IT will soon play a very important role in the Teaching- Learning scenario in schools and colleges and therefore after my Masters in Education, I equipped myself with the necessary tools in IT. The one year Honours Diploma from NIIT has helped me tremendously in my profession.

It was so touching to see my friends running around to tell everyone that I had won. There was a time when I felt that I might not make it to Seoul, but the strength that my family and friends gave me saw me through. Thank God for this wonderful cocoon of love around me.
