Inattention to economic situation could result to child labor Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION

In the past, our parents claimed that having more children was a blessing because they needed more hands to work in the farm. Then there was enough to do on the farm, so more hands were needed.

In today's world, most farms have been turned into walls of buildings, so no more empty land to farm on. All we have now are industries or residential houses built on those farm lands, so no more farm lands to work on.

Residents are more that farm lands, coming to think of it. So, where do the much people farm again? No where!

In spite of the situation, even the people from poor homes still go ahead to give birth to plenty children, children they may not be able to cater for, because, they do not have the money to do that.

The number of poor people are more than the rich. The rich are still wise enough to have few children, but the poor still say since they do not have money, they should have plenty children.

What happens at the end of the day? Those children are made to start making their livelihood at the age of five or less than that.

We have so many recorded issues on accidents, missing children, rape, maltreatments due to child labor. Some victims of child labor have decided to run away from either their parents or guardians for greener pastures, which they may not find eventually.

The earlier we realize that the economy is not like in the days of our fore parents, the earlier we will start making children we can cater for.
