It is my candid opinion that if Nigeria must develop and make progress in this century, it is imperative that we know the different categories of Nigerians that live in and outside Nigeria. This will enable us to make good choices during elections or selections as the case maybe. It will also help us to analyze utterances made by individuals or groups so as to reduce the tendency to join issues with sentiments that will hinder the progress of our beloved Country, Nigeria.
The different categories are as follows;

1. FELLOW NIGERIANS; are those Nigerians who found themselves in Nigeria after the amalgamation by Lord Lugard in 1914. They are still not sure if Nigeria should remain as one. They prefer its division.

2. FUTURE NIGERIANS; are those not yet registered for the ID Card project because they are either not interested or their interest is not protected.

3. FAKE NIGERIANS; are those who import all sorts of fake and sub-standard products for the love of money to the detriment of others and our beloved country. Some seek Green Card to become Second-Class Citizens of other countries for greener pastures either because Nigeria has nothing to offer them or they have nothing to offer Nigeria.

4. FRUSTRATED NIGERIANS; are those uneducated, job seekers, unemployed, oppressed or sick. There are no welfare plans to take care of them. Some have taken to crime while others are hopeless and helpless.

5. FOLLOW- FOLLOW NIGERIANS; are those praise-singers, sycophants and rumor-mongers, who never tell the truth so as to fill their stomachs, pockets and bank accounts.

6. FRAUDULENT NIGERIANS; are those who loot our treasury and make us to be counted among the most poorest nations of the world while they are ranked among the most richest people of the world. They evade tax and declare wrong assets. They also falsify results and declare wrong age so as to seek an official or electoral position and remain there forever. They are saboteurs.

7. FOUR-ONE-NINE-NIGERIANS; are those who rob or dupe Nigerians or foreigners and bring bad name and shame on us. They block foreign investments and get involved in all forms of illegal businesses.

8. FATHERLSS NIGERIANS; are those who don’t even know the names of our founding fathers and the ideals they stood for. They call for the disintegration instead of the integration of Nigeria.

9. FACELESS NIGERIANS; are those who commit crimes of all sorts and are never caught. They are like GHOSTS because they walk freely on our streets. It can also refer to those generally called THE MASSES or COMMON MAN. Policies are sometimes made and implemented without considering the harsh impact on them.

10. FANCIFUL NIGERIANS; are those who buy assorted cars or drive many official vehicles and build houses (mansions) everywhere without considering whether students in tertiary institutions need BUSES or HOSTELS.

11. FUNDAMENTAL NIGERIANS; are those who claim to uphold the laws of the land but they are lawless and cause chaos at the slightest provocation or opportunity. They are also religious fanatics and claim to be holier than God.

12. FRIGHTENED NIGERIANS; are those who are easily intimidated and oppressed in the cause of fighting for their rights. They believe that if you can’t beat them, you join them.

13. FERMENTED NIGERIANS; are those who were good or doing well but later became evil as soon as they assumed a position of higher authority or started making big money.

14. FORWARD-NEVER NIGERIANS; are those who do not believe that anything good can come out of Nigeria. They are pessimists, die-hard critics and sadists. They frustrate development and block the path of progress in our country.

15. FREED AND FAITHFUL NIGERIANS; are those who are disturbed by the permissiveness of the society. They are also worried about the wanton wastage of our Human and Natural resources by the wicked. Instead of joining the bandwagon, they stand high for TRUTH, INTEGRITY, HONESTY, HARDWORK, JUSTICE, EQUAL RIGHT & OPPORTUNITY and RULE OF LAW no matter the consequences or whose ox is gored.

My question now is; HOW MANY OF US ARE IN THIS CATEGORY OF THE “ FREED AND FAITHFUL NIGERIANS?
Search yourself, Purify yourself and make every effort to be a TRUE & GENUINE NIGERIAN who THINKS Nigeria, TALKS Nigeria, and ACTS Nigeria for the development, progress and advancement of our beloved country, Nigeria.
BE A PATRIOT.
IT IS MY PREDICTION THAT, BY THE YEAR 2015 AND WITH ALMIGHTY GOD ON OUR SIDE, NIGERIA WILL BE an INDUSTRIALIZED NATION, THE STRONGEST BLACK NATION IN THE WORLD, A SUPER-POWER and A MEMBER OF THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL.

Writer Profile
George Osaremen Alenkhe

A realist and optimist in a world filled with pessimists and sadists. A writer with a passion for youth emancipation and empowerment irrespective of gender, tribe, language or race. One who believes that for every human action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (good, bad or ugly). I like reading, travelling, singing, listening to people and music, playing games and watching nature.
The more we talk, the less we fight, the more peaceful the world and the happier we become.
