I was reading some of the TIGblogs, and I came across this young girl's blog (for privacy purposes, her identity will remain anonymous) She wrote about how she was in love with someone she met online. She wrote about how she told him she loved him and he didn't feel the same way. Her heart was torn. What I told her is what I'm going to tell you all right now.

Love is not an emotion. Love is something you need to take your time with and understand. If you don't your setting yourself up for disaster.

We can all easily say 'I love you' to someone we're attracted to. The thing is, you can't be so sure if your boy/girlfriend feels the same way. Why not take the time to know him/her and see if he/she the person you REALLY want to say those 3 words to.

Love is a word that is taken too lightly, many people are confusing LUST/INFATUATION with LOVE. This is true, because how can you really say "I loved you from the first time I saw you"??. This really goes out to the younger generation. Yes, I have seen 14 year old's telling their boy/girlfriend "I love you" after two weeks of dating and the next week their relationship ended.

And this is how people get hurt, because they are in too deep and before you know it, your partner leaves you because he/she thinks you're either in too deep, smothering him/her, or just down right crazy.

Now, I'm not 'anti-love' or anything, but It just irritates me to see people giving their hearts away so fast. And I wrote this for young people, you're young, explore your options. Don't rush love.

Sometimes it's better if you follow your mind, not your heart.

I have to agree with your opinion considering most young people truly give their love or confuse themselves with another emotion.
