Peace & Conflict   Opinions

Paint Me a Portrait of Peace We live in a world where there is a daily struggle for survival. It is not anybody's fault that this is the situation. Our leaders want to have a say in every event throughout the world, thus causing us to suffer the results of their actions.

It is here that we have to look at the results of peace and conflicts. Peace doesn't cause people to lose their lives. Nor does it cause bloodshed. Now let's see what good things conflicts can bring into our lives. I will leave you to judge for yourself whether conflicts have any good results.

It is because we do not have hearts that speak words of peace that we are found using force to get what we think should be ours or to simply get something done. We are all of different beliefs and backgrounds but love knows none of these. We have to learn to speak so that another person's heart will know no anger.

It is not easy trying to get someone to understand you but it does not mean force will do the trick. The saying which says, 'If persuasion fails, force is applied" does not count if we hope to have a very peaceful world. The world is our home and force will make it a burial ground, not our home.

Looking at images of war on our televisions, we can see that war or conflicts in general leave people stranded and injured. Many also get killed. When bombs which contain chemicals are used to attack, the land is destroyed and it is made useless. To think of the number of lives that would be lost, conflicts should not at any time be the alternative or solution to any misunderstanding.

I have not had the opportunity to talk directly to someone who has had the experience of war, but life is such that you can know when your brother is hurt. I don't believe that guns and bombs can solve any problems. Let us not let our actions be so shallow that they will cost many people their lives. It doesn't pay to force people to do what they do not want to do. It will only make them reserve their anger for the future. What then is the fate of the next generation? Will they have a peaceful world or will they have a world where it will be impossible to love one another once again, since anger will have so much clouded the good hearts that God above has given us.

I see everybody as artists who are painting for others the things they can see and feel. In the art of painting, it is not every work which receives recognition, but it is those works which have a true meaning and a very positive motif behind them. Have you ever wondered why some paintings still sell for millions of dollars even though those who actually painted them passed away many years ago? It is because their words have a meaning. That is how our lives ought to be. While we are alive, we have to strive to make a positive difference in the way things are done so that one day when we are gone, the world would still remember us because we were skilled in the art of painting.

Trying to be superior in everything, no matter the number of people we have to knock down, is a rather selfish desire. We have to learn to avoid pulling down people when we want something. Afterall, the world we live in is full of ups and downs, you can not be up there all the time and when you are not, try to submit yourself to those who are there. It does not help to be rebellious.

It is painful seeing people die through no faults of their own. Consider others in what ever you do and put love first. Do not grab for what is not yours and do not keep what is for another. Don't do anything to spoil your painting because you are painting your own history and someday it will be displayed to the whole world. Peace is love, and love knows no conflicts, so strive to love others and let conflict have no place in our communities.

Good Talk But...

I really appreciate this, but many people have said more than this. The outcome? we still go back to where we started and start saying the same things. People are hard to change!

Excellent Descriptions

I really loved your metaphor of painting and your belief that the whole point of our lives is to do positive deeds and actions... Your descriptions have touched me and I think you are a very talented writer. Keep up with the excellent work!
