What it takes to reach our Coveted Goal Everyone has what it takes to get to the coveted goal. No matter our background, environment or financial status, we all own what it takes to get there, all we need do is to ‘deeply’ look inward and draw out the ‘latent’ resources residing in us.

Let us take a thrifty look at the emphasized substance above, to deeply look inward and to draw out our latent resources.
Looking deeply inward is the first step, and it means considering or studying our natural ability in great depth, it is the process of self assessment. This is very important having observed that most of us do not realize our naturally endowed potential. We need to create an opportunity to learn about our natural strengths and how they can be used to achieve our expected goals. However it should be noted here that, though the experience of learning about our abilities (skills and aptitudes) can be exciting, there are some cautions we should bear in mind. Discovering our abilities should not be done toward self-centered else the whole essence our natural uniqueness would be defeated. From all indications our abilities were created to enhance and complement each other and thus the need to focus our process of self assessment in a way that models love and assistance for others.

When deeply looking inward or otherwise conducting a self assessment, the question of motives comes in, like: are we trying to glorify ourselves or to seriously understand the talents we are endowed and how to use them? There is every need to honestly evaluate our talents and natural interests as we lay out our plan.

The latent resources residing in us can be described as the potentials existing in us but not presently evident or realized or active. I call them latent because right from the day we were created by the Creator, those resources have been uniquely and graciously deposited in every one of us. What we do with them and how we harness their effectiveness are our individual decisions, and these decisions are what inevitably make us what we are or will become.

It is of great importance that we first decide what we want in our lives. If we have no idea of how to initiate our self-assessment, then we could probably get off to a good start just by following the genuine and positive desires of our hearts and we must be completely passionate about it. It is better to analyze our likes and dislikes in terms of career, items, stories, ideas even our lifestyles and identify the criteria that are important to our choices. Also, there should be a sincere desire to succeed.

With all the above steps taken, we must not be oblivious of the fact that success is not going to happen overnight. Obstacles are bound to occur but with a great deal to be learnt too but we must remain focused on our set destination. Do not forget, a person without a destination can arrive anywhere or nowhere and one without a goal can hit anything or nothing! So we must decide where and when we want to arrive, what we want to be, what we want to get. We should set goals and plan, for planning is winning.
Finally, we ought to put our minds to work by deciphering who we are; it will make us a wonder to our world and a blessing to one another.
