和平 & 冲突   意见

Southern Africa's democracy will get tested later on February 17th, when Lesotho will be having her 5th Democratic Election. On the buildup to the elections, tensions has risen, young people have awaken 'politically' and more than ever before, they've taken to the streets in support of the newly formed political party, All Basotho Convention (ABC), led by the former minister of Communications, who has served in every government since independence.
On the other hand, a lot of disturbing things have been happening:
- The prime minister has banned from both state television and radio local musicians who publicly showed support for the newly formed political party.
- Instead of sticking to his manifesto during his campaigns, the ruling party leader keeps blasting and making fun of the opposition followers and leaders, against the country's electoral law that forbids publicly humiliating members of other political parties.
-Local radio stations that air opposition party manifestos are either being raided or owners are accused of involvement in illegal activities.

These are just some of those things that have make you wonder whether democracy really exists in African countries.
