Life is in stages
Each stage a phase
So girl child…

Understand that you have a great future ahead of you
Dear girl child
Do not settle for less because you are destined for great heights
Can you not see greatness ahead of you?

Girl child

Never accept inferiority
Strive for the best
Never settle for less
Get the best out of life

You are living this life just once
You are very important
You are the lady of the future
You are the mother of tomorrow

Destiny is waiting for you to nurture responsible children
Children that will cause a positive change in their communities
Girl child, you need to build yourself to achieve this laudable feat
Girl child, you are a force to be reckoned with
Girl child, embrace education because education informs and reforms

Good education will empower you and improve your self-image and confidence, so that you can be the best you want to be
Girl child, protect yourself from being violated, I know you can do it. I am convinced you can do it
Girl child, respect the male-folk and stand for your right, nobody may be their to be your voice

So speak out, you are not a lesser being, you are a force to be reckoned with
You are complete and a formidable force

Girl child, stand for what is right
Girl child, associate with people that will bring out the best in you
Girl child, be diligent and be hardworking
Girl child, protect your dignity
Girl child you will soon become a teenager
Girl child you will soon become a lady
Girl child you will soon become a woman
Girl child you will soon become the great voice the world is awaiting
Girl child, you are important.
Girl child live a useful life
Girl child live an eventful life
Girl child you will achieve greatness!

You sure destined for the top if you do not falter.

Writer Profile
'Yemisi

Hello there! I'm Yemisi, a Nigerian female with a passion for developmental initiatives.

I love writing because it's a way of adding value to other people's lives, i.e. sharing. We all are who we are today just because sometime in our lives we had opportunities to read what someone else had written.

I like advocating for the voiceless, especially the less-privileged ones. I love programs that focus on children, teens, youths and women. I also believe that we all can live lives worthy of emulation (by generations yet unborn) if we contribute positively - by putting in our best in whatever we are involved in.

My first degree is in Economics and I also have a Masters in Humanitarian & Refugee Studies. I'm currently in University of Jyväskylä, Finland studying for a Masters in Development and International Cooperation.

I'm interested in issues relating to children, youth and women empowerment, especially in developing countries like Nigeria.

I have authored 3 books titled - "Child Development: Whose Role", "Let's Help Nigeria", and "Charisma and Character".

I am a facilitator, trainer, business advisor/consultant and a motivational speaker. My goal is to contribute to socio-political and economic development through skills transfer, knowledge sharing, networking and policy advocacy.

Thanks to TIG for giving me a unique platform to share with and meet new friends!

The author preferred to write this poem in prosical formula. It depicts some experiences perhaps by the author. It is nicely written. I enjoyed where she wrote ".....respect the male-folk and stand for your right......" She is a voice.
