A broken vessel
Into pieces it’s shattered
We laugh and wail
We dance and mourn
Hoarse we beat the drum
Drums of our agony
Drums of our frustration
Drums of discordant alienation
Sweat and blood we’ve shattered
Toil and agony of our fathers
Fibres of our vessels
Louder we beat the drums
Dance around its shreds
We mourn our damnation
In mutters of accusations
Screams of counter-accusations
New plots we define
The shattering of our convocation
Drums drums
Drums beat in frenzy
Then I hear drums
Beat as by little hands
Hands unsure and unsung
A collocation of hands
Sound beats as of hope
Beats as of very old
But………………
Broken vessel!
Drum beats as of hope
Broken vessel!
Drum beats afar
Broken vessel!
Drum beats draws near
Mourners soon will be shattered
Wailers and laughers alike
‘cos drum beats draw near
Drum beats of hope
