All over America, there is this classroom
I stand in the middle of one
180 days a year to learn
Math, English, Science, History
Those are the main subjects the world uses today
To tell children all about life
The real world

Sometimes I sit there
Hearing things that should never be said
I try to block them out
But opinions just keep coming
A steady strand of echoes
Racial and prejudice remarks
Makes me hate them all

Outside America, children are starving
Young and old lack education
Families live on the streets
Ghosts haunt young ones dreams
The ghosts of starvation, fear, and lack of self-worth
Still they stand up tall
Smiling and happy

I'm screaming out for help
Get me out of here
I have so much around me
Yet people don't want to help others
They live selfishly and full of hate
Believing money is for expensive things
Having to have all the richest things

America the beautiful
Not so beautiful underground
Youth make fun of others
Constantly
They use humour to hide their faults
Laugh at others for self-boosts
Acting like they have more problems than anyone

Outside of this hell
People dance and sing
Africans have high spirits
Russians love their awesome cities
Americans complain
People are so diverse
Yet all the same

Somebody come teach us
How to be human
How to live God's way
How to rejoice
How not to fight
How to sing
How to, How to, How to

Youth from around the world
This is a cry for help
Help the people understand
Less is more
Teach the world your gifts and talents
Lift others up with your high spirits
Give the good news of happiness

Most of all
Give out the gift of love
