We know that you're not here to read spam or garbage, that you don't want to download stuff that will mess up your computer, and that you don't want to be harassed or insulted. That's why we created these documents. To protect our community from things that we want to be able to get rid of. By using the TakingITGlobal site, you are agreeing with the following terms and privacy policy. In other words:
To make sure that the TakingITGlobal Online Community and the content and services it provides to you are of the highest possible quality, we have developed this Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We welcome your feedback and ideas on how to improve these terms. Please contact us with any and all suggestions! And, if any time, this site or these Terms of Service become unacceptable to you, you may discontinue using this site.
Terms of Service ("TOS")1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to TakingITGlobal! TakingITGlobal provides its service to you, subject to the following Terms of Service ("TOS"), which may be updated by us from time to time without notice to you. In addition, when using particular TakingITGlobal services, you and TakingITGlobal shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such services which may be posted from time to time. All such guidelines or rules are hereby incorporated by reference into the TOS.
2. Description of Service
TakingITGlobal currently provides users with access to a rich collection of resources, including various communications tools, databases of information, collections of expressions, forums, and content through its web site(s) (the "Service"). Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any new features that augment or enhance the current Service, including the release of new TakingITGlobal sites and features, shall be subject to the TOS.
3. Your obligations as a member
In consideration of your use of the Service, you agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by the Service's registration form (such information being the "Registration Data") and (b) maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or TakingITGlobal has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, TakingITGlobal has the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any and all current or future use of the Service (or any portion thereof).
4. Member account, password, and security
You select a username and password upon completing the Service's registration process. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password, and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your password. You agree to (a) immediately notify TakingITGlobal of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and (b) ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. TakingITGlobal cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this Section.
5. Member Conduct
You understand that all information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials ("Content"), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from which such Content originated. This means that you, and not TakingITGlobal, are entirely responsible for all Content that you upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available via the Service. TakingITGlobal has limited control of the Content posted via the Service and, as such, does not guarantee the accuracy, integrity or quality of such Content. You understand that by using the Service, you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable. Under no circumstances will TakingITGlobal be liable in any way for any Content, including, but not limited to, for any errors or omissions in any Content, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available via the Service.

6. International Use
Recognizing the global nature of the Internet, you agree to comply with all local rules regarding online conduct and acceptable Content. Specifically, you agree to comply with all applicable laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from Canada or the country in which you reside.

TakingITGlobal does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Service. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Service, you grant TakingITGlobal the following world-wide, royalty free and non-exclusive license, as applicable:

In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, TakingITGlobal has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. we may also at its sole discretion limit access to the Service and/or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe any intellectual property rights of others, whether or not there is any repeat infringement.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold TakingITGlobal, and its affiliates, officers, agents, co-branders or other partners, and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of Content you submit, post, transmit or make available through the Service, your use of the Service, your connection to the Service, your violation of these terms of service, or your violation of any rights of another.

The Service may provide, or third parties may provide, links to other World Wide Web sites or resources. Because TakingITGlobal has no control over such sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that TakingITGlobal is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any Content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. Such third party sites are governed by their own separate terms of use and privacy policies, which you should review separately. You further acknowledge and agree that TakingITGlobal shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such Content, goods or services available on or through any such site or resource.
11. General Information
These Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy below constitute the entire agreement between you and TakingITGlobal, and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements between you and TakingITGlobal. You also may be subject to additional terms and conditions that may apply when you use affiliate services, third-party content or third-party software. The TOS and the relationship between you and TakingITGlobal shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario. You and TakingITGlobal agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the City of Toronto, Ontario. The failure of TakingITGlobal to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the TOS shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision of the TOS is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties' intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the TOS remain in full force and effect. You agree that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to use of the Service or the TOS must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose or be forever barred.
The section titles in the TOS are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
12. Modifications to Service
TakingITGlobal reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. You agree that TakingITGlobal shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.
13. Termination
You agree that TakingITGlobal, in its sole discretion, may terminate your password, account (or any part thereof) or use of the Service, and remove and discard any Content within the Service, for any reason, including, without limitation, for lack of use or if TakingITGlobal believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the TOS. TakingITGlobal may also in its sole discretion and at any time discontinue providing the Service, or any part thereof, with or without notice. You agree that any termination of your access to the Service under any provision of this TOS may be effected without prior notice, and acknowledge and agree that TakingITGlobal may immediately deactivate or delete your account and all related information in your account and/or bar any further access to the Service. Further, you agree that TakingITGlobal shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any termination of your access to the Service.

This privacy policy describes how TakingITGlobal ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and discloses personal information in the course of operating our organization, including in connection with administering programs and services and operating our websites at www.tigweb.org, www.tiged.org, www.risingyouth.ca, www.whose.land, www.codetolearn.ca, www.connectednorth.org, www.youthmovements.org, www.youthleadershipfund.org, and any other TakingITGlobal or partner web sites that link to this Privacy Policy. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information and how you can access and update this information.
1. Personal Information Collection and Use
This Privacy Policy covers TakingITGlobal's treatment of personally identifiable information that we collect when you are on the TakingITGlobal site or when you use TakingITGlobal's services online.
Becoming a Member. TakingITGlobal collects personal information when you register as a TakingITGlobal member. The information we collect when you register includes your name, e-mail address, city, state/province, and country, as well as other optional information that you may choose to provide, such as a profile photo, information about your interests in global issues and experiences in community engagement. We will also ask you to create a username and password. We use this information to manage your membership, to fulfill your requests for services, facilitate your participation in or use of the communities, programs, features and tools offered on our websites and to communicate with you.
Participating in communities and forums. Members can post testimonials or comments on our websites. By submitting a comment or testimonial, members agree to the use and publication of their name along with their comment or testimonial and also to comply with our community guidelines set out in our Terms of Service. Our websites offer publicly accessible blogs or community forums. You should be aware that any information you provide in these areas may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. To request removal of your personal information from our blog or community forum, contact us at memberservices@takingitglobal.org. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.
Applying for and participating in programs. We also collect personal information if you apply to participate in our programs, including our #RisingYouth Community Service Grants, the Youth Leadership Fund, Connected North, Create to Learn, and Code to Learn opportunities. The information we collect when you apply to participate in our programs includes your name, e-mail address, city, state/province and country, demographic information and details specific to the administration of each program. We may also request additional information to verify your identity and for tax reporting purposes, where required, including your government issued identification and social insurance number. We use this information to process your application, to verify your identity and determine your eligibility to participate in the program, to administer the program, to report income (as applicable) and to communicate with you.
Referring friends and family. If you choose to use our referral service to tell a family member or a friend that you know well about our websites, we will ask you for your family or friend's name and email address, and you must be sure that they wouldn't mind receiving this email. We will then send your family member or friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the website. TakingITGlobal stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral program.
Newsletters. If you choose to subscribe to one of our newsletters, we will ask for your name and email address to send the newsletter to you. We may also send you information and communications, including promotional communications, if you have provided your contact information to us. You can unsubscribe from our newsletters and promotional communications at any time. Please see the "Your Choices" section below.
Making a donation. If you choose to make a donation, we collect personal information in order to process the donation payment and facilitate the recording and tax receipting of your donation. If you have made a donation, we may also use your personal information to send you information and updates on the programs and services that your contribution has supported, and for future fundraising campaigns. Once tax receipted, we are not able to issue refunds of donations.
Information collected automatically. TakingITGlobal also automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, TakingITGlobal cookie information and the page you requested. Please see the "Cookies & Web Beacons" section below for more information.
2. Information Sharing and Disclosure
TakingITGlobal is designed to make it easy for you to find and connect with others. For this reason, if you choose to become a member and participate in our online communities or forums your name and profile picture will be displayed publicly. If you are uncomfortable with sharing your profile picture, you can delete it or not add it. If you are uncomfortable sharing your real name, you can provide a non-identifiable alternate name instead for online community use.You can also control who can find you when searching on our website or on public search engines through your privacy settings and the 'close account' tab of your profile.
TakingITGlobal may share personal information with service providers that provide services on our behalf such as data hosting and processing, marketing and analytics, payment processing and other services. Some of these service providers may be located outside of Canada, including in the United States.
TakingITGlobal may share personal information with third parties involved in the operation or administration of our programs and services to the extent necessary to operate and administer those programs and services. For example, if your participation in a program requires accommodation or travel bookings, we may require information requested by travel or accommodation providers to confirm these arrangements.
TakingITGlobal may share personal information in other circumstances with your consent or as permitted or required by law. For example, we may be required by law to share personal information pursuant to a subpoena or warrant, and may disclose personal information where necessary to protect the health and safety of our staff, members and others or to enforce our agreements with you.
TakingITGlobal may share personal information in the event that we are sold to or merged with another organization or undergo a similar business transaction.
3. Cookies & Web Beacons
TakingITGlobal may set and access TakingITGlobal cookies on your computer, used to identify your member account and to allow for the proper functioning of the TakingITGlobal web site and accompanying services. "Cookies" are small data files that your web browser may place on your computer when you go to different websites and mark that you have visited these sites.
We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies to track non-personally identifiable information about visitors to our websites in the aggregate to compile statistical reports about the activity on the websites as well as to benchmark our websites to other third parties who also use Google Analytics. This information is used by TakingITGlobal to improve the website and its functionality.
Our Web pages contain electronic images known as Web beacons (sometimes called single-pixel gifs) and are used along with cookies to compile aggregated statistics to analyze how our websites are used and may be used in some of our emails to let us know which emails and links have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of our communications and marketing campaigns.
4. Accessing and Editing Your Information and Your Preferences
As a member, TakingITGlobal gives you the ability by clicking here to edit your Information and Preferences at any time, including whether you want TakingITGlobal to send you correspondence or discontinue receiving such correspondence.
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, you may unsubscribe from our database at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each newsletter or communication. You may also withdraw your consent at any time through E-mail Settings, or you may contact us at info@takingitglobal.org with any questions or comments relating to your requests.
You may also request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting us as described in the "Contact Us" section below. Please note that your right to access and correct personal information is subject to applicable legal restrictions and we may take steps to verify your identity before providing access or making corrections.
5. Data Retention and Safeguards
All information is kept in databases on our servers and is accessible to our employees, contractors and service providers who require access for the purposes described in this privacy policy.
The security of your personal information is important to us. We take steps to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services contact us at info@takingitglobal.org. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
6. Changes to this Privacy Policy
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post the revised privacy policy on our website. We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by email, or by means of a notice on our home page.
