What inspires you?

Since I was young I have enjoyed making people´s lives happier. I have learned that combining my passion for tech and sustainable happiness works wonders.

Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.

Social innovation is the improvement in mechanics which dictate how people live, act and interact. Changing the way we learn and are educated at school; changing the paradigms of how we communicate with each other; innovating the way one person will support another´s business and social causes; all those and more are examples of social innovation.

Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.

I have wanted to do it since 3 years ago, but I was neither ready nor sure exactly how to proceed. Now I know it by name, JoinUpz, the platform where people can join up to other initiatives and make them take off. During this past year I have been acquiring key experience to help me with entrepreneurship, and I have been teaming up with key partners to make it strong, and I4G was the spark to make it live.

What obstacles have you faced thus far? What is your ultimate goal for this project or venture?

The obstacles have been that I want to make a change in a very tough country and region. In Latin America we have so many and very different cultures: just to say most countries speak Spanish but many variations and dialects so communication can be difficult. Additionally, it is a very challenging region as for social paradigms, politics, education and other basic factors. However, my goal is to help the region by promoting the join ups of different people to make cross-region innovations. First Latin America, then the world.

How do you use technology as part of your project?

We use technology to connect resources, to communicate, and empower people. And that is the main point. It is the platform to empower other social entrepreneurs to make the changes they know best for their specific society.

What project by another I4G member inspires you?

It would be ImaginARTE from Carlos Rojas. It inspires me because, earlier in the competition, it would not have been the kind of project to interest me. I’m a bit more mainstream following issues such as health, education, funding, etc. However, during the project voting process I learned to give up my own thoughts and paradigms, my competitiveness, and collaborate with opposing projects. As I dropped my own motives then, it allowed me to see and understand the power and impact of another mindset I would have never considered. I think it is a bold project, I think is powerful, and it inspires me to see beyond my own world.

Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.

I lived for some time in Europe, more precisely Sweden. Being there changed the way I saw the world and was a stepping stone to get me where I am today. So, I would love to go back. I must confess my new feelings for South America. After the first time I visited Ecuador, I loved it so much that I understood this is only one country of this amazing continent. So I would love visiting more countries, any country from LATAM.
