What inspires you?
I'm twenty years old and I'm currently studying computer technologies engineering at ITESM. I'm passionate about health, education and technology topics. I love to listen to music, to play the piano and of course to find possible solutions to social issues through technology and through the cooperation of other communities. I find really important to provide education to every community in the world because that is one of the basis of a strong society; I enjoy teaching and sharing what I’ve learned at school with others that haven’t had the opportunity to study. That is one of the ways I believe I can give something important to the community.
Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.
Social innovation means to me the way we can think of solutions to the problems that our society has. It is the way we can apply and use the resources we actually have to provide new methods to help to the development of the society.
Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.
One of the greatest ideas I’ve worked in, is a blood donation programme to encourage people to donate. It all started when my team and I realised that blood donation was an issue in Mexico and it needed a solution so we came in with an idea of giving donors some rewards when donating blood. We are merging mobile technologies, servers and sponsorships to build the project. We’ve been working on this project for almost a year and we expect it to be implemented really soon.
What obstacles have you faced thus far? What is your ultimate goal for this project or venture?
The main obstacle we've faced is gathering sponsors to collaborate with the project. Also it has been an issue gathering the resources to build a stable, strong and secure platform to run the techincal part of the project. Our ultimate goal is to find as much sponsors as we can to get the resources we need.
How do you use technology as part of your project?
Most people have a smartphone nowdays so the project takes advatage of that by giving users a free mobile app where they can have access to their rewards such as discounts in restaurants, cinemas, etc. When they donate hospitals will register the donor in a special system and it will notify the server to enable the reards for that donor.
What project by another I4G member inspires you?
There is a project of the I4G LATAM community that inspires my project and it is the one developed by Perla, Diana and Daniel because I find really important to provide help to people that want to offer a solution and all they need is a little of resources or advice.
Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.
I would like to visit countries like Canada or Brazil or some countries in Europe where some ideas to encourage blood donation has proven to work so that I along with my team can think of new possible solutions to implement where there is not a blood donation culture yet. I find very important to learn from others and apply where it can be applied anything to help the society.
