What inspires you?

I gain my inspiration from activities that are youth driven and youth led. I have come across youths who are united by a common call to transform their lives. Activities as environmental conservation, ICT, agriculture for sustainable development, arts and culture and sports have in many ways than one united our youths despite the racial, tribal, continental and language inclinations. These have united them into developing themselves and creating job opportunities for them and for other youths. My belief is that 'We are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the agents of change'. It begins by you and I.

Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.

I have always had a lot of interest in issues environmental. I believe that the environment is the biggest resource in this world that dictates the survival of the human, animal and even plant species. Thus, anything detrimental to it's own very existence should be fought tooth and nail and become defeated. I currently work with an environmental group that has committed itself to protection and rehabilitation of waterways through riverine tree planting practices and conservation of water resources. We also do sustainable agriculture through capacity building of smallscale farmers to alternative and better ways of farming. This is geared to fight the food insecurity in the region that we live in. Apart from all this, i have always wanted to become a part of the TIG team in any capacity from long time, and now i thank goodness am living the dream by being a part of this great team by working as an 'Online Voluntee'.

Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.

Someone once said that a good leader is one whose predecessor succeeds. World over i am not able to identify any person who has shown that leadership capability. But to organizationwise, i think that TIG has shown good leadership. Thus, a good leader is one who is able to bring resources close to his/her people, one who articulates issues of his/her people in every way possible and providing solutions, one who doesn't discriminate in any way racial, tribal, or social. One who recognises that the youths and children in the society are the most important piece in the developmental fabric of the country, thus, invests in their education, health, while advocating for their rights.

Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.

Through the TIG platform, i shall be able to articulate the views that affect us, as youths. TIG is awash with a lot of information and resources that i have always wanted to be able to push forward the agenda that i have for the youths in my locality and region. Already TIG has given me a forum to learn more about what youths like me are doing the world over, and has also given me an opportunity to work as an Online Volunteer.
