What inspires you?
I feel inspired by amazing people's stories and experiences which make me believe that nothing is impossible. And as Francois de La Rochefoucauld said: “there are ways that lead to everything, and if we had sufficient will we should always have sufficient means. It is often merely for an excuse that we say things are impossible”
Indeed, these stories give me a perception on how people can reach great achievements despite the difficulties and give me more motivation and inspiration to go ahead and to have more confidence in myself.
Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.
I am committed to environment issues and to water resources in particular.
My technical Water engineering background helped me be more aware about water and sanitation problems in the world.
By the way, more than 3.4 million people die each year from water, sanitation, and hygiene-related causes. Also, the lack of access to clean water and sanitation kills children at a rate equivalent of a jumbo jet crashing every four hours.
I started being involved in environment clubs when I was in primary and secondary schools then I created my own water club at the university. I also created a water dedicated portal to spread and share information about water in the world (www.aypow.org)
After obtaining my diploma, I started working in water and sanitation projects in many development countries in Africa and now I am working in the humanitarian field to provide better access to improved water and sanitation to vulnerable population affected by War and natural disasters in Central Africa.
Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.
To answer this question we need to know if leaders are born or made which is a fundamental question in the organizational behavior theories.
Well, if I suppose that leaders are made, I can say that to be a good leader, you need to capitalize your past experiences as well as others experiences, to learn more about yourself before starting to know about the others.
Once you will have a good knowledge of yourself, a good knowledge of what you want and a good knowledge of people around you (how they behave, what they want, what motivates them etc...) you can consider yourself on the right way to be a leader but not yet a good leader.
Good leadership is not only learnt but partially born with us.
Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.
Definitely, TIG can help me and already helped achieve some of my goals.
Indeed, TIG can be a great tool for spreading information and linking between people initiatives (not only youth initiatives) and can be a great inspiration and motivation resource.
I already used TIG to share information about my Arab Youth Portal on Water project (www.aypow.org) and to connect with other inspiring initiatives and potential partners.
