What inspires you?
I am inspired by Youth, by Voice, and by people who care. I am also inspired by the beauty of the world, which I think consists of nature, of art and of community. I am involved in theatre, and literature: I was recently published in a book about Indigenous identity, the environment, and co-habitation and communication between Indigenous peoples and French Canadians in Québec. As a younger person I was involved in voicing youth perspectives on politics in Canada and the environment.
Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.
I have always been involved. As a child growing up in the Northwest Territories, "on the land' so to speak, and then in Québec City, I thought a lot about the environment and the impact that policies, governments and the economy has on it. I listened to my urge to speak about these things. I am interested, inspired and involved in the plethora of human existence, ranging from plants and nature, to artistic expression, to youth in difficulty, to Indigenous peoples' rights on local, national and international levels.
Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.
I think that a good leader is a person who listens to the people he or she is leading and is capable and willing to voice the issues. A good sense of identity is also important.
Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.
TakingITGlobal is an organization that gives an interactive space for youth to voice what it is they have to say, this is an amazing realization in itself and I am glad to be a part of TakingITGlobal.
